kasia is happy

grey hound
morning cappuccino
had a very nice and very lazy week and managed to recover a bit after the degree show. No bears, moles or foxes, however I couldn't help drawing this beautiful whippet hound when he came for a coffee to my favourite French cafe. What a nice morning I had! Also I went rollerskating to cramond in the afternoon, which made me even happier. Especially when a little girl said: "you did rollerskate real good!".

postgraduate degree show 2010!

Here are some pictures form our show plus with very brief descriptions. Thank you all for coming along! And for all the nice comments left in our comments books.

Absolutely amazing work by Tyra.
Bold posters and installations by Tom.Beautiful and cosy space created by Holly.
Magnetic and very clever show created by Jammie.
Julia's amazing studio space was an integral part of her show.
Swasti kept the suspence till the last moment. She also made a wall play music!
Wonderful contemporary fairy tale by Helen. Amazing colour palette.
Rachel's space was minimal. Only at first glance though. Until you've checked-in.
Lindsey's show was slightly psychodelic. Fantastic bold drawings and crazy patterns.
My work was cute, as usual.

a bird, a cat and an owl!

The show is already up, privite view tomorrow and life seems to be normal again with enough time to clean the flat, cook a dinner, go running in the morning and, most of all, meet people! Above are all the lovely gifts I got for my birthday! Never got so much cuteness and loveliness in one day.For some strange reasons people keep giving me all sorts of little creatures and I have to be taking care of them all. Thank you!!! And thank you for coming along!!! Now getting ready for the private view.
Haven't decided yet if I should go for red, grass green or lucky yellow tights.

Teraz leniwe przygotowania do jutrzejszego wernisażu. Wciąż nie wiem, które z mojej kolekcji kolorowych rajstop powinnam założyc - czerwone, trawiaste zielone, czy szczęśliwe żółte...

The Fringe Stall and Degree Show

I admit this blog has not been properly looked after recently. This is because I am working slightly too hard to get everything done for the Degree Show. To make things a bit more complicated I am selling my work at the Fringe Market. Below are the details of both events.

ECA Graduates at the Fringe
Saturday 6 August to Friday 13 August
11am - 8.45pm
We are at The Royal Mile in the Market right next to St Giles Cathedral. Come, see and buy! On show are handmade prints, limited edition digital prints, cards, handmade books, hand-painted ceramics and other beautiful exciting stuff.

apple green

Two weeks to go and the level of stress in the studio grows very high. many tears and general depression. Thought a bunch of apple green helium ballons may cheer people up. Not sure if it is going to work but it felt liberating to do something which is not degree show or illustration related.

Zostały dwa tygodnie do końcowej wystawy i poziom stresu w studio osiąga poziomy niewyobrażalne. Ogólnie płacz, rozpacz i głęboka depresja.

a sketch i made ages ago

morning capuccino in
It has been rather busy recently and I am afraid it is going to be like that for the next few weeks. That is why I don't have time for morning sketching sessions in cafes and for blogging. Which is sad.

back from holiday!

We are back from our trip to Turkey/Georgia/Armenia. The whole thing was quite intense so I feel more tired now than before. I made some basic calculations: 7 buses, 6 planes, 10 trips on the tube, 9 taxis, 4 trams, 2 boats, 19 marshrutkas (minibuses), we hitchhiked twice and we travelled by train once. Which accounts to 60 different means of transport in 16 days.
Otherwise, the mouse seems to be rather relaxed enjoying spectacular views to Hagia Sophia in Istanbul and sunbathing in Batumi.
I promise to upload some more photos and sketches but it might not happen before the end of August as I have a lot to work on for the masters final show. Only one month to go!

Tak więc wróciliśmy z naszej podróży do Turcji/Gruzji/Armenii. Podróż była raczej intensywna i niewiele miała wspólnego z klasycznie pojmowanymi wakacjami (właściwie to częściej przypominała survival jakiś i walkę o przetrwanie).

new friends

We went to Alnwick last Sunday to watch snail races and enjoy beautiful English countryside. I came back with new friends: Jenocenta and Lampart.

W zeszła niedzielę pojechaliśmy do północnej Anglii dopingowac wyścigi ślimakowe i podziwiac angielskie krajobrazy. Wróciłam z nowymi przyjaciółmi: Jenocentą i Lampartem.

delayed sketches from trip to poland and london

flying back and forth
capuccino back home
tate modern

siesta
in front of train station
1. Flight with our 'favourite' airlines from Edinburgh to Kraków and waiting in launge in Katowice Airport before the flight to London.
2. Capuccino in a cafe in Kraków. From all cafes in Kraków we choose te one that was plenty of English speaking people!
3. In front of Tate modern in London and a quick sketch of a guy who fell asleep just in front of me on the train to London Luton. The other one in the background was watching me sketching. One of these situations when you cannot pretend you do not sketch the guy in front of you but a very exciting element of a seat just beside him.
4.Wait in launge, London Luton.
5. Chilling out in Toruń.
6. In front of train station in Iława Główna. One of these places that make me think I want to move back to Poland now.

squeegee!!!

I was on my way to printmaking workshop last week when I met this guy (yellow in bottom left corner). Unfinished screenprint of Sqeegee the Duck that I produced for a printmaking project in October last year! I must admit it was quite a surprise to meet him after almost 8 months, just like that, in a rubbish bag waiting to get recycled. It makes me feel happy that the creatures I produce come back to me in surprising circumstances. It does not make me happy that perhaps most of art I make ends up unfinished, in the rubbish bin. At least it gets recycled...
